Description
Appealing Stag on offer from 21-year ownership and several years in
storage; Rover V8 fitted with automatic transmission; Targa top; nice Mohair
hood and interior with wire wheels
As the original Passport to Service book shows,
this Stag was supplied new via St. Peter Port Garages of Guernsey in April 1973.
The book has five service stamps, the last in October 1975 at 14,437 miles.
Imported to mainland UK in 1983, it has had just two owners since, our vendor
acquiring the car in 2003.
Finished in red, the car looks well on its wire
wheels and boasts a full soft-top and T-Bar from the original Targa set-up
underneath offering greater roll-over protection and rigitidty.
The car
hasn’t seen much use for the past few years due to ill-health and as such is
offered here as a non-runner, the last MOT being issued in June 2019 with no
advisories recorded. We are advised the car has some fuel supply problems as a
result of ruptured fuel pipes, but you’ll need to confirm this for yourselves –
it’s an undocumented diagnosis from the vendor.
The car looks to have
also been fitted with a Rover V8, we assume in 3.5-litre guise and on carbs,
which is mated to automatic transmission.
The car’s interior looks
presentable with black vinyl interior, wood veneer dash, electric windows and
more modern radio/CD player along with what we understand to be a switch for the
radiator fan.
The history file includes the V5C, 11 old MOTs; selection
of bills including fitment of an electronic speedo kit in 2015 (reading zero at
fitment, old 2nd hand speedo read 67,560 miles which replaced
original in 2008 at 37,020 miles as noted on file); re-bushed steering column in
2015; engine rebuild with new cylinder head in July 2014 costing £700; new
Mohair hood and hood frame repair in July 2012; new carpet set in 2010;
electronic ignition kit in 2008; brake calipers in 2007 and purchase receipt
dated 2003 at 75,900 miles.
An appealing example from 21-year ownership
with scope to carry out some light recommissioning before being enjoyed on the
roads once more.
