Description
Intriguing MkIII Spitfire 1300 with scope to improve the paintwork; comprehensively restored in the mid 90s; starts, runs and drives with a good interior
Dating from June 1970, this Triumph Spitfire MkIII is finished in red and sits upon its period correct steel wheels and black vinyl roof.
Under the bonnet, we find the peppy 1296cc four-cylinder engine with twin SU carbs, as found in the Triumph 1300 saloon, good for 75Bhp and 102NM of torque when new, with drive going to the rear wheels via four-speed manual transmission with optional overdrive on 3rd and 4th.
Inside, we find a tidy black vinyl interior with red painted dash and some wood veneer trim, along with black carpets that look to be a decent state.
The car is, we gather, on offer as a stalled restoration due to ill-health, our vendor not able to move forward with it anymore. That said, bar needing a repaint the car looks solid and ran as it should as we moved it around for these images.
The history file includes the V5C showing 12 former keepers, the Spitfire Owner’s handbook, 16 old MOTs (the last expired in March 2024 with no advisories), DVLA microfiche ownership history, an ownership history of “Spitty” dated, we believe Yr.2000 also showing its restoration through the mid-90s, a Spitfire parts and accessories brochure and a few old bills.
Representing an intriguing and affordable entry point with some relatively straight forward improvements to make and you’ll have yourself a tidy Triumph.
