1972 Range Rover Classic
Fantastically
original one local owner A-suffix; just 69,000 miles from new; in recent use;
extremely sound; original paintwork in Sahara Dust; an important reference
vehicle
This early A-Suffix classic would have been the bees-knees
when it was bought by the vendor's late father brand new in 1972 from
Westgate Motors in Gloucester. Apparently he had a particularly good day at
market and walked across the road and bought it on the spot! Used for high days
and holidays, it has remained completely unmolested with the exception of an LPG
installation.
It lived on the farm in Worcestershire all of its life and
has always been kept in running and driving condition, as indeed it is
today.
It must be one of the few left with the original front seats - the
driver's squab showing some signs of wear and only a very minor tear on the
passenger squab. The instrumentation is original and the odometer shows just
69,000 miles.
The paintwork shows a few signs of distress, as it has
every right to do after 48 years, but some careful conservation would transform
it and we are told it is the original applied in Solihull.
Other than a
ding in the driver's door - possibly from a gate on the farm, the panel work is
remarkably straight and given that it has been so little used and in single
ownership from new, it represents a useful reference car for those restoring one
of these iconic machines.
It comes with an old style logbook and one old
MOT, but nothing else in the way of paperwork. One look at the vehicle, with is
history in mind, leaves little doubt that this is indeed a rare find and offers
a fabulous opportunity for sympathetic conservation or a concours restoration to
make the best of the best...
