Description
Iconic and most handsome Continental R Mulliner (Continental T wide
body with R's longer wheel base) finished in dark Green with 1/2 suede
& leather interior; light elm wood; rear entertainment with VHS player;
lambs wool over rugs; 420Bhp 6.75 litre Turbo V8 showing 81,127 miles and
less than 2,000 miles covered over the last 11 years of our vendor's
ownership with fresh £5,600 service at HR Owen
Dating from January 1998 this
rather marvelous Bentley Continental R Coupe comes to us in highly desirable and
more bespoke Mulliner spec which means it boasts the widebody of
the Continental T but with the longer wheel base of the R giving more rear
passenger room. Finished in dark
green with slightly flared arches, big 18" five-spoke alloy wheels as found
on the Continental T variant, upgraded mesh grill and twin
exhausts.
Under the bonnet, we find the
colossal 6.75 litre V8 with Garrett turbocharger from the Continental T which
develops 420Bhp and a whopping 881NM of torque driving the
rear wheels via four-speed GM 4L80-E automatic transmission with Sport mode
which offers impressive performance given its size and
weight.
Inside, we find an extremely
comfortable and inviting cabin with seating for four, swathes of leather and
suede with two-tone suede and leather seats, white oak wood trim, electric
heated memory seats, starter button, flip-out ICE, cruise control and rear
entertainment with twin screens and rear mounted VHS player.
We are told this car was one
of a pair in this unique, bespoke spec built new for a wealthy chap from Hong
Kong, one car remaining in the UK, the other in HK.
The history file
includes the V5C showing five former keepers to our vendor who has been
fortunate enough to own this lovely majestic Coupe for the last 11 years, the
Owner’s manual and selection of bills including a recent £5,592 spend at HR Owen
in August of this year which included a major ‘Number 2’ service, a new battery,
a repair to the ignition, AC service and re-gas and paint repair to the boot
lid.
In addition, other bills on
file include a specialist gearbox overhaul and hard-wired battery trickle
charger socket in September 2013 costing some £5,490 at 79,378 miles along with
a further £4,667 spent in July 2013 on a major ‘Number 1’ service and underbody
wax oil at 79,378 miles. The current MOT is valid until August 2025 and recorded
no advisories.
Given the car shows just
81,127 miles, it transpires the Mulliner R has covered just under 2,000 miles in
the last 11 years of our vendor’s tenure.
A wonderful looking and very
rare car (1 of just 131 Mulliner R's) in what looks to be super order, it would
no doubt be at home within any investment portfolio or
collection.
