Lot Ended
Description
Imported to the UK from Switzerland in 2006 and effectively
one owner since; kept garaged in an Airflow Airchamber and very
lightly used; only 3,200 miles since 2007; lots of history including recent new
Mohair hood, clutch kit, fuel pump, distributor rebuild and brake system
overhaul; running very sweetly on site
As the Heritage Certificate
confirms, this Healey 3000 MkIII was built in July 1966 finished in Healey Blue
with black trim and was a LHD export model destined for Switzerland. The
original buff logbook shows that it was first registered to a Peter Herzog of
London W1 with the number JGO 59D, presumably being exported to Switzerland
shortly thereafter.
It was brought back to the UK
in January 2006 and converted to RHD, our vendor acquiring the car from Healey
specialist JME of Leamington Spa in April 2006 with the registration number PRP
257D. Correspondence on file states that it had just one owner while in
Switzerland.
At the time of import it was
fitted with a KMH speedo showing 10,077kms but this was soon replaced by an MPH
unit, 12 old MOTs showing that the car has only covered 3,200 miles since 2007,
the odometer currently showing 32,310 miles.
Kept garaged inside an Airflow
Airchamber when not in use, it comes with a good file of invoices to show
regular upkeep in the current 18-year ownership. Expenditure of note includes a
new electronic fuel pump and overdrive solenoid in 2009; new dark blue Mohair
hood and hood cover supplied by Don Trimming in 2011; full respray in 2016 which
cost £6,000; new clutch kit in 2018; agreed insurance valuation of £68,000 in
2019; major service, carbs rebuilt and chassis cleaned and rust-proofed in 2020.
Immediately before the auction the car was treated to another service
which included fresh oil, spark plugs, coil, rebuilt distributor and a brake
system overhaul.
As you can see in the photos,
this Big Healey looks most attractive and has been starting promptly and running
sweetly as we have moved it around on site, with healthy oil pressure. On offer
here at an enticing guide price, it now only needs an enthusiastic new
owner who can give it the more regular exercise that it
deserves.
