Description
Recently
restored including a new galvanised chassis, new tilt, new Weber carb, new
brakes, suspension, clutch, wiring etc; really nice condition and spec;
ready for shows or work
Dating from 1980 and originally
in service with the British Army, this Land Rover Lightweight was demobbed for
civilian use in 1999 and has had four owners since. Finished in Drab Olive and
fitted with a 2286cc petrol engine, it shows only 45,679 miles on the odometer.
In late 2023 this Lightweight was treated to a sympathetic restoration
which included a brand new galvanised chassis; new canvas tilt; new Weber
carburettor; all new brakes; new shock absorbers; new hubs; new bearings; new
clutch; two new 12 volt batteries; new exhaust manifold; new exhaust and
all new wiring.
Although there are no invoices for this work, the Land
Rover speaks for itself and there are notes giving a detailed account of what
was done, courtesy of John Brown 4x4.
The spec includes a bonnet-mounted
spare wheel, front and rear bumperettes, military style chevron tyres, twin
tanks, rear seats with belts and heater with demist etc. Fitted with two
standard front seats with matting to the footwells, in the rear we find a heavy
duty load mat, with a pair of side-facing full height jump-seats with lap belts.
The racking which would have originally housed the FFR radio gear is still
present and even has its Land Rover sticker still on it.
As you can see
in the photos, this Lightweight looks most attractive indeed and has been
starting promptly and running nicely as we have moved it around on site. Fitted
with many new parts, it is on offer here at a very enticing guide price and is
ready for a new owner to enjoy.
