Description
Lovely example boasting a desirable Gold-seal engine in Midnight
blue with leather interior and a smart hood; considerable history file inc.
comprehensive restoration 2008-9; lots to like here
What a pretty car
this looks to be. Dating from March 1971, this rather attractive MGB is finished
in Midnight Blue with blue vinyl hood and sits upon center-knock wire
wheels which really set the car off, complementing the shining
brightwork.
Under the bonnet, we find a
much revered ‘Goldseal’ engine, finished in gold colour with additional oil
cooler and Kenlowe fan with a fruity stainless steel exhaust system too. Drive is to the rear wheels in the
traditional manner via four-speed manual transmission with overdrive on
3rd and 4th.
Inside the cockpit, we find a
contrasting grey leather interior with dark blue carpets and typical crackle
black dash.
The history file includes the
V5C showing six former keepers to our vendor, BMI Heritage Certificate
confirming the car’s identity and original fitted options including a heater,
seat belts, overdrive and Rostyle wheels.
Our vendor, a retired
engineer, acquired the car last July and set about his usual regime of light
recommissioning in his workshop, which included work to the fuel system, a carb
service, new plugs, points and a service.
A note in the file from our
man also reveals the car has been fitted with arch liners, a Motolita steering
wheel, battery isolator and fully carpeted boot.
The history file
also includes detailed records (including printed photos and many more on both
CD and USB) of a major restoration through 2008/9 as well as more recent works
such as fitment of the stainless exhaust in 2022 and new tyres in 2021. More historic bills are also on file
dating back to the early/mid 70s as well as those 2013-22 with a host of MOTs
also present from 2010-2024.
A turn-key example that’s been
well sorted in an attractive colour scheme with useful recent service work
carried out.
