Description
From a deceased estate; appealing original factory V8 with 5-speed
gearbox; considerable history file; minor fettling required
Dating from August
1973 this MGB GT V8 comes to us unfortunately from a deceased estate, a
local chap who loved all things old car and MG.
Acquired by the
vendor in 2006 the car looks to have been enjoyed by him through 2011 with
photos on file when it had an agreed valuation of
£10,000.
The history file suggests the
car was subject to considerable works when he acquired it. There are a host of
bills and images from this period for parts purchased but little since c.2008
when it appears the car was likely completed, used and
enjoyed.
Also within the history file,
we find the V5C showing three former keepers, the Heritage Certificate revealing
the car to be an original factory V8 built in RHD for the home market between
June and July 1973. It was sold new through Shipside Limited of Nottingham
and finished in Glacier White with cast alloy wheels and
overdrive.
Our chap looks to have had a
5-speed manual transmission fitted in place of the original 4-speed unit which
should give the car greater usability on today’s roads/speeds and sound very
good indeed, also boasting a useful Webasto sunroof.
We are told there
may be a few minor jobs to finish, or rather some fettling to do as you may have
noted. A re-trim of the headlining looked to be part way through before his
untimely demise.
An interesting car with a
choice gearbox upgrade that looks to go and sound well. Lots to like and even more so if you
like to tinker.
