Description
Unusually smart Pinto-engined Tasmin; recent service including
cambelt, brake overhaul, water pump, carb, electronic ignition; stainless steel
exhaust; driven 35 miles to the sale; rare model with striking looks at a modest
guide price
First registered in March 1984, this rare and unusual
Tasmin comes to us with 2.0-litre Pinto power and shows just three previous
keepers on the V5C.
An invoice on file from V8 Sports and
Classics dated 2004 details a major £3,560 service, which included new
suspension bushes, work to the brakes as well as attention to many detail items
on the car. This took place at 71,109 miles.
It has lived with our vendor
since the middle of last year, the odometer now reading just under 74,000 miles,
so it has covered fewer than 3,000 miles over the past 20 years, the MOT history
implying that it was off the road from 2015 - 2023.
Our vendor has fitted
many new parts, including two new front calipers, flexi brake pipes, a new water
pump, cambelt, new carburettor, electronic ignition and given it another full
service including fitting a new battery. It also has a stainless steel
exhaust.
It retains its original bag for the removable Targa top and the
front seats have clearly been professionally retrimmed in the recent past - the
interior presenting nicely.
It flew through its MOT in July last year
with no advisories recorded and has covered under 300 miles since. As
it is now 40 years old, it will be the job of the new owner to apply to the DVLA
to change the taxation class to Historic, after which it will be free
to tax and MOT-exempt.
TVR didn't make many 2.0-litre Tasmins - a
pity as the engine is a cracker and can produce huge power if so desired. It
comes with its original four-speed box, so is a nice back-to-basics sportscar,
with a rust-free body, stainless exhaust and in very smart order, as can be seen
from the pictures.
On offer for half the price of an
equivalent MGB Roadster, it is a quirky and interesting alternative which
was driven some 35 miles to the sale.
