Lot Ended
Description
One of the nicest we have seen; only 59k miles indicated; great
colour scheme and comes with original fitted luggage; original wheels and caps
included; former prize winner; driven 50 miles to the sale
The
Mark 1 X1/9, or Icsunonove as it was known to its makers, was given some tasty
additions when ordered as a 'Series Special' back in the day. Funky striped
seats, a pair of matching fitted bags, Carello driving lights and side
stripes adding yet more pizazz to the already avant-garde Bertone
styling.
With its Targa top (which could be stored in the front
compartment) and Cromadora alloy wheels, they were available in three colours -
Metallic Blue, Metallic Green and Metallic Orange, as with the example
here.
First registered in April 1978, it retains its striped upholstery
and even its matching luggage. The Carello driving lights are also
present.
It was restored prior to coming into our vendor's hands in 2013.
We are not sure when the work was done but notes on file show that
it included a pair of replacement doors, a repaint, engine overhaul,
suspension overhaul and brake work. The notes refer to approximately 1,620 hours
of labour.
In 2012 it went to a rolling road to be tuned....arriving with
63bhp and leaving with a healthy 76bhp - money well spent.
There are 12
old MOTs on file, the earliest from 2001 when 38,336 miles were listed. We
cannot verify if this is correct, but it could be and just 20,800 miles have
been added since, the odometer currently showing 59,130 miles.
The file
also includes some bills and invoices, showing a new cam belt and tensioner were
fitted in 2019 along with a caliper overhaul and the cleaning and greasing of
brake pipes. There is also a January 2011 copy of Icsunonove, the X1/9 club
magazine, featuring the car on the front and rear covers, perhap following the
restoration work. It comes with a car cover, a set of four original wheels and
centre caps and several prizes for past events. There is also an original
brochure and a Haynes manual.
It was driven some 50 miles to the sale,
the most distance it has travelled for some time, it's lack of use being the
reason for sale.
This most appealing X1/9 is one of the smartest we have
offered and looks like a lot of car for relatively little
outlay.
