Description
From a deceased estate; body-off restoration in 1980; unleaded
head; recent clutch; running and driving; use and improve
This
Gerald Palmer-designed YA was first registered in November 1951 to a gent from
Marlow, Bucks. No fewer than three buff logbooks chart its owners through the
years, the car moving to Hornchurch, Essex and then to Cardiff in the early
1970s. It has remained local to there ever since.
It was given a body-off
restoration in the early 1980s, with photos on file showing it was painted in
green when finished. It was fitted with an unleaded head in 2006, had its wiring
attended to around then too and a new clutch as recently as 2019.
We
don't know when it was resprayed in the current two-tone silver grey, a
presentable job but not to a professional standard and the reconnolised
seats are past their best.
It comes indirectly from a deceased estate and
although it hasn't seen much use for a while judging by the old petrol, is
a ready starter and has been running, driving and stopping since arrival on site
with a smooth clutch, quiet engine (in need of a tune and service) and sweet
gearbox.
These YAs are great little cars, with reasonable performance and
particularly nice steering. This one can be improved with work, but has many
good points and looks like an ideal car to use and improve.
