Description
Pretty, early R129 with sports checker trim; wind deflector; working
soft-top; 95,000 miles with 14 service stamps; recent £2,000 spend at the SL
Shop
Supplied new by Mercedes main agents Clover
Leaf Cars of Odiham in November 1990, this early R129 Series SL300 is finished
in Pearl Grey with colour coded removable factory hard-top with Navy Mohair
hood and sits on a set of later 16” five-spoke style alloy wheels shod with Avon
tyres.
Under the bonnet, we find the 3.0 litre
12-valve SOHC M103 inline six cylinder engine which produces 188bhp driving the
rear wheels here via four-speed automatic transmission.
Inside, we find grey checker cloth trim (a rare cost option only
available on the earlier cars) without rear seats, plus walnut trim, electric
seat operation, electric windows, electric roof, heated rear screen, climate
control, ABS, cruise control and roll over bar.
The car presents well and shows 95,960 miles, starting promptly and
running as it should with a smart interior, exterior, hard-top and
hood.
The history file includes the V5C showing
just three former keepers, the Owner’s pack with manuals and service book
recording 14 stamps, the last in March 2015 at 89,260 miles by MBS Mercedes
Specialists.
We also find some 18 old MOTs, the
last having expired in May 2023 recording no advisories at 94,554
miles. In addition, the file also
contains a ream of historic bills for parts and maintenance over the years, some
technical and spec info plus recent bills from the SL Shop which set our vendor
back some £2,000. This included a full health check, a
new brake fluid reservoir, repair to a hydraulic hose, repair to the roof
mechanism, fuel pump filter, repair to a fuel leak and other minor
works.
Ready to be enjoyed (once MOT'd) this
looks to be a smart, earlier example with the rare interior option at sensible
money.
