1989 Daimler DS420 Landaulette
Pretty car with
custom built Landaulette drop down rear section including twin confetti canons -
lovely example and ready made business opportunity
Dating from November 1989 this imposing Daimler DS420 has until
recently formed part of a successful wedding business in the North. This unusual example benefits from
having had the master craftsman hand of our business owner convert it into the
Landaulette you see here.
A note from the
vendor on this car confirms the car to have been restored ‘in-house’ including
new front arches, sills, door bottoms, rear arches and re-painted in Rolls Royce
Porcelain White.
The interior was re-trimmed
with black front seats and cream rears in vinyl piped black with matching vinyl
roll back roof. This particular
example’s party-piece is that it features two confetti canons powered by
compressed air (in the boot) thus enabling (when the Landaulette roof is rolled
neatly down) the wedding party to be showered with biodegradable confetti as the
Bridge and Groom wave farewell to their excited guests – innovative and likely
unique - and definitely special.
The 4.2-litre
Jaguar XK engine we gather has been kept in fine form, needing little other than
a caring hand through our vendor’s ownership being sparingly used (covering
c.16,000 miles over 13 years) as a key part of the wedding fleet in the sale
here today.
The history file includes only a
note from the vendor, sundry bill, photos of the car and confetti canon in
action and V5C revealing four former keepers to our owner of 13 years.
The private plate pictured LGL 426 is also included.
Its current MOT is valid until May 2022 and recorded four
advisories for brake pads, a brake pipe corroded/covered in grease and a central
rear parking brake grabbing slightly.
Bidders please note, the last few MOTs
show a slight mileage discrepancy recording 88,902 miles in April 2018, 88,823
miles in June 2019 and 88,879 miles in October 2021. We must also make Bidders
aware the car was recorded Category-N (Non-structural damage) in August 2018
along with one colour change from Black to White in September 2010 at the time
of restoration.
Affectionately known as
‘Dolly’, the sale of this and the other cars is a tough wrench but serious
ill-health and covid economic difficulties have unfortunately forced the sale of
these lovely vehicles.
