2002 Porsche 911 Carrera
(996)
Well-maintained and optioned face-lift 3.6 manual
coupe; just 110,000 miles with extensive service history including all-important
preventative IMS bearing replacement.
Supplied new by Lindbrook
Porsche in April 2002 this face-lift 3.6 Carrera coupe is one for the enthusiast
with its six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive. The car is finished
in basalt-black metallic (LC9Z) with matching black full leather interior (AH)
and rides on well-shod staggered five-spoke 18inch Carrera alloy
wheels.
The optional equipment fitted to this car includes the rare
'09991' code meaning the car was subject to the 'Sonderwunsch Programme' (now
known as Porsche's 'Exclusive' scheme - whereupon the vehicle leaves the
production line and heads to the 'Werk 1' area for fitment of bespoke/custom
specification).
The custom options fitted in addition to what came as
standard to a UK-spec car (C16) comprise: carbon fibre gearknob, carbon fibre
handbrake, carbon fibre vents and dash-trim (options XNR, XNX, XPY, XJ4, X47 and
X58), 2-way electric leather sports seats, and rear leather seats. Furthermore,
the Bose high-end sound package was fitted along with Porsche’s PCM system
(sat-nav) and climate-control. The headlining to this example is finished in
brushed black suede.
From the history file one can see that the car has
been properly maintained and serviced with over £4,000 spent in parts and
maintenance since 2019. It also shows that in April 2016 a new IMS bearing
(intermediate shaft) was installed. Most recently, stainless steel exhaust
silencers were fitted to replace the original silencers that were going at the
seams (aren’t we all?). These are of mild-sports specification from Top Gear and
sound subtly sporting.
The history file for this 996 comprises two
folders: one contains the V5C,13 old MoT certificates and a current MoT
certificate valid until January 2023 (with an advisory note from the tester
to ‘use the car more’!); the other folder contains invoices for all works done.
There is also the owner's pack and service book showing 14 stamps, two keys,
locking wheel-nut, and tool-kit, jack and brace.
This is a very well
optioned and presentable Carrera 2 variant in the right colour scheme, with an
interesting original factory specification and just 110,000 miles and is ready
for regular use and enjoyment.
