Description
1935/2 Austin Seven Chummy
Sound and usable
Chummy; rebuilt engine with Phoenix crank; weather equipment; running and
driving
This Primrose Chummy has certainly enjoyed an interesting
life. The body is from an original AG Chummy dating from around 1932 which was
discovered by a past owner simply as a body. This was subsequently mounted
on a shortened 1935 Ruby chassis hence the Girling brakes which are a
very worthwhile upgrade.
The engine was rebuilt by Ruairidh
'Rory' Dunford
some while ago, but has covered so few miles it still needs running in. The more
observant of you will have spotted the 'go faster' aluminium head and we are
told it has a splash-fed Phoenix crank so all should be well in the engine
department.
It also has indicators and brake lights, later wheels with
recent tyres and a luggage carrier for the rear. The vendor has also included a
rear trunk which was a present from his wife.
It retains its original
continuation buff logbook relating to the rolling parts and a current V5C
which shows our vendor has owned it since 2004.
The weather equipment is
all present, including a full set of side-screens, hood (and hood bag) and a
tonneau cover for added security.
A weekend of cleaning and polishing
would transform this nice little Chummy which is offered with a very
reasonable guide price. There is always fun to be had with a Chummy - they make
friends wherever they go - this interesting use and improve example ticking the
boxes for someone who has regular activitiy in mind.
